Songjin Silk Coat
Description:
This pattern is one of the most classic patterns in Songjin(宋锦) Silk. It is called "hu zhen wu du(虎镇五毒)" in Chinese, which means "Tiger Subduing the Five Poisons". It symbolizes the wish to protect one's own safety and health.
In traditional Chinese culture, the five poisons refer to snakes, scorpions, centipedes, geckos and toads. The tiger, being extremely strong and powerful, can subdue them and drive away bad things for people, blessing them with good health and safety.
